Busse Combat INFI Tool Steel for Knife Blades

INFI Tool Steel

Manufacturer: Busse Combat

INFI is a tool steel used by Busse Combat exclusively for their line of high-end production and semi-custom knives. INFI has acheived an almost legendary status amongst knife collectors as possibly the best steel available. While INFI is not a stainless steel, it's corrosion resistance is said to exceed many of the high-end stainless steels such as 154CM, which is very impressive.

INFI is an air hardening steel, which has a small amount of Nitrogen in it, and may use an element of age hardening though that is just speculation. The INFI heat treatment process is a company secret and not much is known about it. Busse's INFI steel is hardened to RC 58-60.

Jerry Busse has done countless live demonstrations of the toughness and invulnerability of INFI steel. The steel is almost impossible to chip even at RC 58-60, and can shave hair after cutting countless peices of manilla rope. It is truly an exceptional steel, and it is only available from Busse Combat.

The interesting thing is that in all its glory, it has never been duplicated by any other company. This is possibly because of Jerry Busse's unique multi-stage heat treating process.
