Damasteel Damascus Stainless Steel for Knife Blades

Damasteel Damascus Stainless Steel

Manufacturer: Damasteel AB

Damasteel is manufactured by Damasteel AB, and usually refers to the 93x Matensitic variety that is produced primarily as a bladed cutlery steel. Damasteel is a swedish company, and one of the largest producers of damascus stainless steel in the world. Their innovative metallurgy process produced the first damascus stainless steel, and used the now commonly used process of powder metallurgy.

The two steel used in the production of Damasteel are RWL34 and PMC27. RWL34 serves as the harder steel, and finished "bright" after etching, while PMC27 is the softer steel which etches "dark".

Damasteel makes an excellent cutting steel, comparable with most premium steels such as 154CM, and is hardenable to RC60.
